The Cross River Government says it has concluded plan to host an international trade fair between April 15 and 20 in Calabar, about three decades after it held the last major one.
Mr. Joseph Edet, Managing Director, Summit Hills, a government agency organizing the fair in collaboration with the state Ministry of Commerce, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday in Calabar.
Edet said the fair tagged ‘Market Square’ would not be for only physical goods and services, but an opportunity for providers of digital/virtual goods and services to market their products and services.
He said that big local manufacturers such as Innoson Motors and international companies would participate in the trader fair which would have 1000 stands.
The managing director said the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) had contacted the companies expected to showcase their products at the fair.

“Products from the newly established industries in the state will be on display and some of the highlights of the trade fair are a business clinic, entertainment, and summit marathon.
“We will be hosting a business clinic as part of the trade fair to keep participants in the know about best business practices, innovations and the role of technology,” he said.
Edet added that there would be pitch contest and business mentorship for small businesses, among others.
