Rivers youths are not lazy – Banigo

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State Dr Mrs Ipalibo Harry Banigo has debunked insinuations in some quarters that Rivers youths are lazy.

Dr Banigo debunked this shortly after undertaking a tour of Akuku Toru, Asari Toru and Degema Local Government Areas to monitor the progress of the on-going Free Skills Acquisition Programme she organized for youths and young adults in the three Local Government Areas of the Old Degema Province.

She said contrary to the negative perception that our youths are lazy; the average Rivers youth is very industrious.

“We went to Abonnema, Degema, now we are in Buguma we went round, the centres are well populated and what touches me is the zeal of the participants, they are willing to learn, they are eager to work so all these talk about our youths being lazy is out of the question and God will make sure that they fulfil their destinies. Nothing will stop them”. The Deputy Governor stressed.

Dr Banigo who expressed gratitude to the General Overseer of Redemption Ministries Rev. Stephen Akinola for declaring God’s blessing upon the participants and programme said: “no more shall it be spoken of you that you do not want to work or know what to do, all those negative narratives are gone away in the name of Jesus, every reproach over your life is rolled away in the name of Jesus and today the lord has called him again mid-way through the programme to come and place this wonderful prophesy on you, prophesy of long life, peace joy and favour”.

She expressed the hope that whatever the participants learn would be beneficial to them and the society at large, noting that the Almighty God would continue to bless them.

In his sermon drawn from Proverbs Chapter 3:1-4, the General Overseer of Redemption Ministries Rev. Stephen Akinola prayed for God’s favour, good understanding and long life upon the participants.

Also Speaking the Coordination of the Programme, Pastor Christopher Briggs, who said his perception about the Kalabari Youths, in particular, have changed positively assured the Deputy Governor that the confidence reposed on his team to impart skills on the youths would not be misplaced, noting that God’s hand is involved in the programme.
