NIS to commence mentorship programme for young surveyors

The Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Rivers State Chapter, says it will commence a mentorship programme for young surveyors to equip them with the right ethics of the profession.

The State Chairman of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Chukwudi Ezi, said this during the inauguration of new Executives of the Young Surveyors Network, YSN, in Port Harcourt.

Chukwudi Ezi said the mentorship programme will guide young surveyors to create solutions to the challenges in the built sector.

He said the State Chapter of Nigerian Institution of Surveyors will assist the new executives of YSN to achieve their targeted goals.

The new Coordinator of Young Surveyors Network YSN in Rivers State, Eze Promise said he would focus on human capacity development of its members during his administration.

Eze Promise said he would partner with groups like Women in Surveying to organize Career Talks for secondary school students across the state.

He noted that they would mentor secondary school students for them to make the right career choices by choosing professional courses in higher institutions.

The out-going Coordinator of YSN Micah Miodiremugh advised the in-coming executives of YSN to initiate programmes that will promote unity in the group.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee Surv.Keodiye Marian David-West while congratulating the new executives of YSN asked them to initiate programmes that will stand the test of time.

He advised the new excos to be united so as to achieve their goals.

Our correspondent reports that Charity Nyobana was elected as the Deputy State Coordinator while Ojo Festus Kanaya Godspower was elected Secretary-General of YSN.

Other elected officials are Enyia Thompson Chimele- Financial Secretary, George Ibikunomaa- Treasurer, Lawson Nwidum- Communication officer.

The newly elected Executives will receive their Certificates of Return on the 30th of January during the Nigerian Institution of Surveyor’s NIS monthly meeting.
