RSG accredits 1415 Private Schools

The Rivers State Government has approved the accreditation of one hundred four hundred and fifteen private schools in the state.

The committee for Accreditation and Approval of Private Schools set up by the Governor said this while submitting their report to the State Government.

The Chairman of the committee, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, said, out of two thousand five hundred and eleven applications for accreditation only one hundred four hundred and fifteen were given the approval to operate.

Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele also said that six hundred and fifty-nine schools were granted interim accreditation while four hundred and thirty-seven schools were denied operational approval.

He said the list of all affected schools in the report will be published in The Tide Newspaper and Thisday Newspaper of Monday 25, 2019.

The Secretary to the State Government Dr Tammy Danagogo while receiving the report on behalf of Governor Nyesom Wike said the State is committed to ensuring that private schools are of the approved standards with the right facilities.

He also directed the Ministry of Education to swing into necessary actions against schools denied accreditation and ask parents and national examination bodies to take note of the new development.

”We are concerned and committed to ensuring that private schools are of the approved standard with the right facilities”. “We have no doubt that this report will help us sanitize the educational sector to create a State with high educational standards befitting for the growth and development of our children”. he said
