Breaking: Soldiers invade community in Rivers State

Soldiers from the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, have invaded Biara community in Gokana local government area of Rivers State.

Community sources who spoke to Theportcitynews said the community has been deserted, adding that they’re currently hiding in the bush while others have taken refuge in neighbouring communities.

The soldiers who are allegedly searching for criminal elements in their ongoing operation in Ogoni Land which began weeks ago, have been criticised for human rights abuses.

A faction of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, MOSOP, condemned the military operation in the area, alleging that 14 women had been raped by soldiers while over 10 persons have been killed.

Details later.
