Wike congratulates Buhari on victory at election petition tribunal

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for emerging victorious at the presidential election petition tribunal, PEPT.

Wike in congratulatory message made available in a statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, his Special Adviser on media, urged Buhari to use his victory to work for all Nigerians.

The five-man panel of appeal court judges led by Justice Mohammed Garba, had in an unanimous decision, dismissed the petition filed by Wike’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The panel said petitioners failed to convince the tribunal for the reliefs they sought.

Atiku and the PDP were by the petition, asking the court to set aside the victory of Buhari in the February 23 presidential election.

Wike in the statement, also called on the President to work towards the unity of the country, noting that the country is divided.
