The immediate past senator representing of Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe, on Wednesday congratulated Chief David Lyon, on his emergence as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state.
Abe, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson, described the gubernatorial primary election which was conducted through direct primary as a reflection of the practice of true internal democracy.
He urged all members of the party to respect the Will of the people and continue to work together to blaze the trail for the adoption of peaceful democratic processes in the conduct of party affairs.
The Senator emphasized that leadership which makes for Open democratic practices will help to bring an end to the needless rancor that has characterized our polity.
Abe said: “The peaceful process of the direct primary is an eye opener that, it is the direction to follow and the only way to deepen our foothold in the South-South is by offering a clear and visible difference to the impunity of the past.
“We have come a long way and it is time to prove our mettle by practicing what we preach.
It is now clear to everyone that APC stands a very clear chance to win Bayelsa in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections,” he added.
