APC chieftain murdered in Port Harcourt

Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday night killed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.

Chief Benson Omunakwe from Mgbuoshimini community in Obio/Akpor LGA that was murdered at the wee hours of yesterday’s night.

He was an aspirant for the Obio-Akpor constituency 2 for the state house of assembly.

The reason for his murder is yet to be ascertained.

This comes barely 48 hours after the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, said that the government is tackling insecurity in the state head-on.

Security agents during the meeting with Governor Wike also promised to bring the killings in several parts of the state to a screeching halt.

Theportcitynews gathered that the gunmen numbering about 4 waylaid the deceased and shot him several times.

The police in the state is yet to comment on the development.
