A man in his early 40s simply identified as King has set himself ablaze in a suicide mission following the death of his mother and brothers.

The unfortunate incident happened on Sunday in Odaga community, Abua/Odual local government area.

King was a father of three whose wife was 8 months pregnant with their fourth baby.

The victim reportedly locked himself up in his room before setting himself on fire, TPCN learnt.

The time of occurrence which was in the early hours of the day made rescuing the victim difficult.

Relatives said he possibly took his own life after the death of his siblings and mother

They said that the mother’s remain is still at mortuary waiting internment.

They said the development made the deceased to increase his drinking and smoking habit.

A neighbour who spoke to a TPCN correspondent said they noticed smoke coming out of the deceased’s room, however, the intensity of the blaze made it difficult for anyone to enter the room.

According to him: “We had to forcefully breakdown the window to gain entrance but then, he was already unconscious.

“We rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by medics,” the neighbour said.
