Hoodlums shoot driver dead along East-West road, abduct passengers

Unidentified hoodlums on Thursday evening shot dead a bus driver and abducted 20 passengers at the Emohua axis of the East-West road.

TPCN gathered that the bus was going to Port Harcourt from Abua/Odua when it was attacked.

This comes days after another bus belonging to Agofure motors was also attacked on the road while its passengers were abducted.

The Rivers State Police command in January declared a state of emergency on the Emohua axis of the road.

The police also said that it was going to mobilize men to comb through the bushes in the area to arrest hoodlums hiding in the bushes.

However, a week after the state of emergency was declared, the police abandoned the state of emergency, leaving travellers in at the mercy of criminal elements in the area.

The police are yet to respond to the latest wave of abduction by the hoodlums.
