Collation of results for the suspended gubernatorial, national and state house of assemblies elections has resumed officially in Port Harcourt.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had on the March 10 suspended the result collation citing insecurity against its staff.
The suspension followed a rift between the police officers deployed to the INEC office at Aba road and a team of soldiers led by a Colonel who wanted to take charge of securing the premises.
However, INEC, a week ago, released a timeline of activities for the continuation of the process.
There was a stakeholders’ meeting on the 30th of March between the commission, political parties, ethnic groups, youth bodies, civil society organisations and security agencies in the state.
The resumed collation is headed by the National Commissioner for Bayelsa, Edo and Rivers, Mrs May Agbamuche Mbu who is seconded by the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Rivers state, Obo Effanga with the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Usman Belel, representing the Inter-security agencies.
