Police officers call for help as living quarters are about to collapse

Some policemen serving in Rivers State and living at the Barracks at the old Port Harcourt have called on the Rivers State Government and the general public to come to their aid as their Barracks quarters are about to collapse on their heads.

The officers told our correspondent that all efforts to get the buildings renovated by the police authorities have fell on deaf ears as concretes are falling off the buildings.

An officer who did not want his name in print said that the building is about 50 years old and reeks of lack of maintenance.

According to him, nothing is working in the Barracks, adding that they did not commit crimes in serving Nigeria.

He said that only the state government and oil companies can alleviate their pains as the situation is deteriorating every day.
