Cultist set ablaze close to University of Port Harcourt identified by police

The Rivers State Police Command has identified the cultist set ablaze on Tuesday by rival gang members in Alakahia community as Chima Ibe.

The command also said that three other cultists were killed in the neighbouring Choba town barely 24 hours later.

Chima Ibe was shot and burnt by unknown gunmen who trailed to a drinking joint in Alakahia.

Nnamdi Omoni, the command’s PRO said that the killings are reprisal attacks by rival cult groups.

According to him: “We have been inundated with the situation in Alakahia and I can tell you that it is most unfortunate. Alakahia used to be a very peaceful community.

“We have beefed up security in those areas and we will remain there until we stabilise the situation. We have commenced an investigation into what is happening there and we can say for now that the killings are cult related.

“While we do our job to provide security, we are advising the elders of those communities to talk to their children and call them to other because their boys live in the communities and they know them.”
