Kalabaris hail court as ex-convict Oju Dagogo-Jack loses again

More commendations have continued to trail the judgment by a state high court sitting in Port Harcourt against an ex convict, Mrs Oju Israel Dagogo-Jack.

Some Kalabari indigenes who spoke with our correspondent described the judgment as well deserved.

“We are happy with the judgment. Mrs Oju Israel Dagogo-jack is a fraudster. We are not surprised that she lost in court again because indeed she is liable,” they said.

In a judgment delivered by Justice I Wodi, the court ordered the defendant, Oju Israel Dagogo-Jack who had once been sentenced to prison for stealing to return some momentary and cosmetic items in her possession to the rightful owner, Princess Nume Mangibo.

The said items were parts of why the ex convict was charged to court as at when she was popularly addressed as Mrs Ujo Bob-Manuel.

According to a Port Harcourt based newspaper, The Hard Truth, “Oju was found guilty on count 3,5,6 and 7 bordering on stealing by a magistrate court presided over by Woke and was sentenced to six months imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine on count 3 and 6 respectively.

“Another fine of N10,000 on count 5 and two years imprisonment with and option of N100,000 fine on count 7 were also slammed on the accused person .”

Oju was said to have however pleaded for mercies, adding that she was a nursing mother upon her conviction.
