Ikwerre leaders urge Buhari to withdraw soldiers from Rivers state

The leaders of Ikwerre ethnic nationality in Rivers State have called on President Mohammadu Buhari to quickly order the withdrawal of soldiers to enable the electoral process to be concluded in Rivers State.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt, the ethnic nationality also called on the independent electoral commission to complete the governorship and house of Assembly’s election process by announcing results duly collected from all polling units in Rivers State.

The text of the briefing which was read by a senior advocate of Nigeria and former national president Nigeria bar association, O.C. J Okocha also called on all Ikwerre sons and daughters in all the political parties to immediately refrain from actions that are exposing the communities and people to serious danger and insecurity.

They also urged all communities to be vigilant to ensure that they are not used as theatres of election-related wars and brigandage.

The Ikwerre people also urged all civil and security agencies to forthwith stop all activities that threaten the peace of Ikwerre land and Rivers State in general.
