APC asks INEC to cancel Enugu State results

The Enugu Chapter of the All progressive Congress (APC) has called for the cancellation of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

The State Chairman of the party, Dr Ben. Nwoye, who made the call at a news conference on Sunday in Enugu said that the purported election on Saturday was an aberration.

He said that there were fake INEC ad hoc staff attached to all the polling units in the state to direct unenlightened voters to thumbprint and vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The chairman said that thugs were also employed in most of the voting points to intimidate and harass the electorate who wished to cast their vote for APC candidates.

“Corp members who were also posted to the various polling units received inducement from PDP to compromise their duties in the election.

“In some cases they dressed members of the PDP with national Youth Service Corps (NYSC) uniform but they were fake and were allow to work in various voting points.

“There were also vote buying by PDP members in almost every polling unit and voting points, adding that these were supervised by the police; in addition to vote buying, PDP prepared meals to induce the voters.

“PDP have prepared fake result sheet masterminded by the INEC SPO’o who were used by the IPO’s to shut out APC and other political parties,” Nwoye alleged.

“Majority of our agents at polling stations were denied copies of result sheets allegedly selected by the compromised collecting officers for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“The results allegedly collected by the compromised collaction officers at the wards were higher than the number of accredited voters in the card readers.

“The Divisional Police Officers in the respective polling units allowed the PDP thugs to manipulate majority of the polling units and voting points.”

He claimed that the DPOs had been on the payroll of the various local government area, adding that collation were done at the office of the chairman of the respective council areas.

“State government vehicles were used to convey INEC materials to the various collation centres,” he said.

Nwoye said that INEC in Enugu State simply fooled Enugu voters, adding that they did not deploy the claimed technology in Enugu.

He alleged that INEC systematically excluded independent members of the public from participating as ad-hoc staff and employed PDP card caring members to work as ad-hoc staff in various units.

He also called on the Inspector-General of Police to send his team so that the perpetrators would be arrested and prosecuted for the crime. (NAN)
