Police teargas Rivers APC chieftains, eject them from INEC office

The Rivers State Police Command, on Thursday, forcefully ejected chieftains of the All Progressives Congress from the premises of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The party chieftains barricaded INEC premises, demanding that they be re-enlisted on the ballot following a stay of the execution order of the Federal Court by the Appeal Court.

The Police moved in and dispersed the crowd with teargas and sporadic gunshots in the air before.

Among the chieftains who stormed the INEC office along Aba road include the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Tonye Cole; Nigeria’s ambassador to the Netherlands, Orji Ngofa and many others.

They later converged at the party’s secretariat at Aba road.
