Rivers APC Crisis: Appeal panel declines hearing of appeal.

An Appeal Court panel sitting in Port Harcourt has directed the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to put its house in order.

The appellate court gave the direction on Tuesday while entertaining APC’s suit which the party sought a Stay of Execution on the order issued by Justice James Kolawole Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

Recall that Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court had in a judgement in a suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe issued a restraining order on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from recognizing any APC candidate for the general elections in Rivers state.

But the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt declined hearing on the appeal filed by the APC for a Stay of Execution.

The three-man panel, led by Justice C.N Uwa, said the application was not ripe for hearing because there was no record to show that the appeal has been entered.

The panel however directed the parties to do the right thing just as it advised the APC to put its ‘house’ in order.

The panel also reserved judgement on the issue of jurisdiction on the matter brought before it by the APC against Justice Chiwendu Nworgu of the state high court.

The APC told the appellate court that the state high court was not meant to hear the matter brought by Ibrahim Umar and 22 others on the ward, local government and state congresses of the APC in Rivers state.
