NPS Nabs smugglers of Contraband in Port-Harcourt Prison

The Rivers State prison command says it has arrested three men while attempting to smuggle contraband suspected to be Cannabis Sativa into Port Harcourt Maximum Prison while on visits to their relative in Prison custody.

The command said items recovered were carefully concealed in pairs of sandals which were meant to be gifted to their inmates serving jail terms.

The command in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliet Ofoni and made available to theportcitynews said “all the suspects were apprehended by Eagle Eyes of the Intelligent Unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service, who carried out a thorough search and found the items which were also carefully concealed in their sandals they wore to the Prisons that were well strapped to their feet”

“The three suspects have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for further investigation and prosecution”
