2019: Suit seeking to disqualify Rivers APC from fielding candidates gets hearing date

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has filed an application at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt against the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The PDP is asking the court to make certain declarative injunctions in its favour that the APC in Rivers State does not have candidates for all elective positions for the 2019 general election.

The PDP is also asking the court to mandate the independent national electoral commission, INEC, not to recognise any candidate for the APC.

Counsel to the PDP, Ferdinand Oshoke-Orbih, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, asked the court for accelerated hearing of the matter which was granted.

On his part, counsel to the All Progressives Congress, Emenike Ebete said the court will determine whether the PDP has the right to seek for injunctions in an issue that concerns only the APC.

The matter, which is before Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, was adjourned to December 11 for hearing.
