Letters: Port Harcourt is now the refuse capital of Nigeria

Port Harcourt is getting dirtier by the day and the government doesn’t seem to care. The Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA, that collects 500 million from the government monthly seems to be sleeping on duty.

The lack of proper refuse disposal channels in and around the city has made things worst in recent times.

It is only in Port Harcourt that refuse are disposed on road medians.

Keke operators seem to have taken over, causing gridlock on the roads. It was not like this before. In as much as they are creating employment, there should be decorum in the way that they operate.

Even Okada now plies in some parts of GRA with Agboros taking over the jobs of the police. Is this how the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, wants to return Port Harcourt to its glory?

This government better sit up and know what it is doing.
