Killing of many youths increased the number of widows in Rivers State – Llyod

A former Leader of Rivers Assembly and the current Director-General of the Tonye Cole Campaign Organization, Chidi Llyod, on Tuesday, said the violence that greeted the 2015 election led to the killing of many youths in Rivers State.

Dr Llyod also stated that the killings increased the number of widows in the state.

Llyod made the statement at Krigene, headquarters of Osumini-South Ward 6 during the consultative visit of the All Progressive Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 gubernatorial election in Rivers State, Tonye Cole.

The communities presented their case before the guber aspirant and demanded that justice be guaranteed over the killings of their kinsmen before, during and after the 2015 general election.

In his remarks, Cole said, “There will be no more death in this town, no more waste of lives in this town. As God is our witness, the pain in your heart, we will find justice for it.

“Your message has been heard loud and clear. It has been captured. Don’t worry about it. There is no peace in this area because of the killings that occurred here.”
