The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, contractors have cried out over the failure of the commission to pay them for the projects they completed several years ago.
The Chairman of the Restoration and Progress Association of Nigeria, RAPAN, Mr. Joe Adia who spoke for the contractors said most of them are being harassed by banks for loans collected for the projects.
Adia who was former President, NDDC Contractors Association, also enjoined Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to meet the contractors to understand their plight, adding that the federal government should not neglect the contractors.
Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on his part held an urgent interactive session with the contractors to discuss the issue and look for ways to resolve it.
Our TPCN correspondent reports that the contractors are sick and worried of losing properties they used as collateral for obtaining the loans used to carry out the projects for the government through the NDDC.
It is hoped that the Vice President’s visit will enable the Federal Government to understand the gravity of the situation, which is critical and pathetic.
Information gathered says that the Managing Director of NDDC approved some payments since April 2017 but no payment has been made yet.
