Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 General Elections.
Delegates voted for Wike who emerged as the sole candidate in line with established party guidelines.
Also in attendance was the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus who joined other delegates from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state to vote.
Chief Returning Officer for the Rivers State PDP Governorship Primary, Mr Chuma Chinye described the exercise as a celebration of democracy.
An Electoral Panel from the National Secretariat headed by Mr Obetan Obetan superintended over the electoral process.
Meanwhile, Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, earlier assured delegates that the PDP will nominate her governorship candidate in a peaceful manner.
The Rivers State Governorship Primary was kick-started via a motion for the constitution of the 2018 Special Congress by Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Austin Opara and seconded by Rivers State Women Affairs Commissioner, Mrs Ukel Oyaghiri.
