Cultists Invade Compound In Amadi-Ama, Kill One and Injure Many

Unknown gunmen believed to be cultists at about 8 p.m on Sunday, stormed the Amadi Compound at Amadi Ama Community in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State.

An eyewitness told Theportcitynews that the suspected cultists shot one man in the compound and wounded many.

The identities of the person shot and those wounded have not been ascertained yet.

Many of the residents in the area ran helter-skelter looking for where to hide to avoid falling victims, the source told our correspondent.

The reason for the attack is not yet clear. Another source revealed that some people got injured while trying to escape.

The female source said that the suspected cultists took them unawares, adding that they suddenly started hearing the sound of gunshots.

She said: “The cultists just came this evening and started shooting. They killed one person and wounded some people. I’ve been trying to reach my husband to tell him not to return yet. He went to preach in one church in Marine Base this evening but his line is not going. I am worried”

A few months ago, the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Town, King Michael Ateke Tom, narrowly escaped from gunmen’s attack when he visited the paramount ruler of the place.
