Lalong urges muslims to practice the virtue of Islam as they celebrate the festival of Eid el kabir

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has called on the Muslims especially residents of the State to practice the virtue of Islam as professed by Prophet Mohammad (SAW) and demonstrated in his sacrificial obedience to all the tenets of Islam.

Lalong, in a statement of felicitation with the Muslim faithful at the celebration of the festival of Eid el Kabir, signed by his Director, Press and Public Affairs, Samuel Nanle noted that the event which signifies faithful submission to the will of Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim who was prepared to offer his son as an act of worship to Allah (SWT) must be emulated.

He expressed delight that the dividends of democracy which the people of Plateau had signed up for and are working assiduously towards consolidating have borne fruit in the various projects which the Federal Government have brought to the State. The Governor while thanking the Moslem Ummah for their support assured that the commitment of all and sundry to the peace process in the State will engender an enviable atmosphere for the turnaround of the fortunes of the State.

While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-El Kabir celebration, he assured all citizens that all that is necessary to guarantee a peaceful celebration has been put in place for a hitch free celebration and further urged all to be law-abiding during and after the celebration.

Meanwhile, the Joint Heads of Security/Law Enforcement Agencies have synergized to ensure a hitch-free celebration. In two separate press statements issued by the State Police Command and the State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, the agencies enjoined citizens to be law-abiding during the celebration.

According to the Police statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Tyopev, “There will be a joint show of force with all security agencies in order to build public confidence and provide necessary security and there is suspension of the operation of tricycles (Keke) within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis.”

The FRSC through its Public Education Officer, ACC Ioryue Yende urged motorists to be law-abiding as “Mobile courts sittings will be conducted in specific flash points to facilitate speedy trials to traffic offenders.”
