The Rivers Unity House (RUH) has begun the sensitization of youths and the general public in the state on the need to eschew violence during the 2019 general election.
Addressing a cross-section of youths at Elele-Alimini community in Emohua local government area of Rivers State, RUH leader, Kingsley Wali, urged them not to see politics as a do or die affair.
He stated that it is only the youths that can change the situation of things in Nigeria and Rivers State, adding that those currently in charge of politics in the state had sown the seed of hatred and disunity among the people of the state.
According to him: “I have a simple message for the youths here. When you get home, go to your mirror. Pick up the mirror and look at the mirror. Any face you see in the mirror is the face that is going to save Nigeria.
“It is only you that can do it; nobody can do it for you.
“As youths, start believing that you are the person that will change your fortune. If you don’t believe in yourself, then there is no tomorrow.”
“I came from the age; I came from the generation that destroyed Rivers State with hatred, bitterness and disunity. We have transferred that hatred and bitterness to the youths. We believe that once you don’t belong in the same political party as me, you are my enemy. It is not supposed to be so.”
On his own part, co-convener of RUH, Mr Peter Ekekwe, said all members of the group are members of the APC who believe in the leadership of the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
In his welcome remarks, Coordinator of RUH, Buchi Nsirim, lauded the Chairman of APC in the state, Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree for moving the party higher since he assumed office.
