Just in: Police invade Saraki, Ekweremadu’s streets (Video)

This is even as the Department of State Service (DSS) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) surrounded the residence of the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu.

Recall that the Police had Monday evening invited Saraki to appear before it by 8 am on Tuesday to answer to allegations against him in connection to the Offa robbery which claimed the lives of more than 20 persons.

But early this morning, men of the Nigeria Police Force invaded his house to prevent him from appearing before the police to answer the invitation.

Saraki, in his reaction to the invitation, had said that he was aware that there is a plan to prevent him from attending to plenary on Tuesday and Wednesday to prevent mass defection from the National Assembly.

He said: “I have been reliably informed that the police invitation was planned by IG as a ploy to stop an alleged plan by some Senators and House of Representatives members from defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC). It was also said that if I was detained between Tuesday and Wednesday, that will abort the so-called defection plan.”

Meanwhile, Ekweremadu’s residence was also besieged by DSS and EFCC.

Confirming this development, the Special Adviser on Media to Ekweremadu, Uche Anichukwu said, “I can tell you this is true. The house of the DSP is presently surrounded by DSS, and EFCC operatives.”
