Following the legal battle trailing the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State which arose from the party’s Ward, LGA and State Congresses, the Deputy State chairman, Prince Peter Odike JP, has announced himself as the acting state party chairman.
This was made known during a press statement issued on Monday in Port Harcourt. He opined that since there is an existing court order restraining the party’s Congresses, and that the party returns to status quo, Hon. Davis Ibiamo Ikanya remains the state party chairman but for his absence due to medical check-up for eye-related problems, he (Prince Peter Odike) becomes the automatic state party chairman as there will be no vacuum in the leadership of the party.
Mr. Odike, while speaking to journalists at the press conference, maintained that the party has not done any Congresses as far as the law is concerned.
He added that Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree is not the state party chairman, saying the party will continue to abide by the law pending the outcome of the suit in court.
