There is squabble within the ranks of the ruling All Progressives Congress head of the May 5th ward Congress in Rivers State as faction loyal to Senator Magnus Abe have accused the Minister of Transportation and leader of the party in the state of planning to rig the congress across the state.
The Abe’s faction said that they observed that the minister has used his close relationship with the National Party chairman, Chief John Oyegun to get a written result for those whom he wants to fill different party offices.
The faction maintained that two weeks ago, the minster had directed his faction of the party to host ward meetings and take video coverage of it.
A source who spoke anonymously and knowledgeable in the matter said he believes that the reason for the meeting was to present the video coverage in court if peradventure it gets to a legal battle.
He further said in a bid to stop the Senator representing Rivers South East senatorial district, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe from becoming the party’s flag bearer, the minister of Transportation has vowed to secure majority of the ward executives who would be the delegates for the forth coming party primary election.
Meanwhile, the Senator Magnus Ngei Abe’s faction of the party has vowed to fight any form of impunity and highhandedness and that any attempt to subvert the wishes of the masses will spell doom for the party.
Attempt to get the State publicity secretary of the party, Chris Finebone, to comment on the matter proved abortive.
