With his declaration to seek re-election in 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to win more support.

The latest support for the President is coming from the Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Andrew Uchendu.

Uchendu, who stated that supporting President Buhari in the 2019 presidential election would lead to more political and economic developments in Rivers state, called on the people to stand behind him.

A statement signed by Solomon Okocha, Media Aide to Senator Andrew Uchendu, made this known to theportcitynews.com in PortHarcourt.

The Rivers East senator recalled that since its creation in 1967, Rivers State had never been in opposition to the central government, therefore arguing that 2019 should not be anything different.

“I recall that from the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Board in 1964, to the creation of Rivers State in 1967, to the splitting of Rivers State in 1996, which gave birth to the creation of Bayelsa State, our founding fathers had always worked with the government at the centre”, the statement quoted him as having said.

“All the major and meaningful infrastructural developments in the state today from the Federal Government, have always arose from the fact that the people of the state, and indeed the Niger Delta, always worked with the central government,” he said.

According to Uchendu, “We will be toeing the path of our political forebears if we go back to ensure that our people in the state rally round President Buhari in his second term bid. first

“Interestingly enough, our son and leader, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, CON, Honourable Minister of Transportation, has been re-appointed as the Director General of the Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation. The

Senator Uchendu, who is the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Public Procurement, stressed that it was time for the people of the state to correct the mistake of the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration, where they are not working with the government at the centre.

He added that by his reading of the political barometer of the day, President Buhari would plainly win the 2019 Presidential Election.
