Rivers State Governor, Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike, has said that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is not a political party but a social group.
The Governor made the remark while addressing stakeholders of the South-South chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during their summit in Portharcourt on Monday.
The summit attracted the 5 South-South PDP governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers.
Also in attendance were PDP senators from the region and other stakeholders.
The Governor said that the APC came to take power through lies and deceit while stressing that the PDP is the only political party in Nigeria.
During his speech, the Governor also reiterated that the PDP must work hard to gain back power in 2019, stressing that the party chairman, Uche Secondus, has a lot of work to do.
He said: “The PDP must work together to gain back power in 2019 for good of Nigerians. The party chairman has a lot of work to do. This is not the time to discriminate, our brothers who want to come back must be welcomed without discrimination.
” APC came to power through lies and deceit. APC is a social group, not a political party. The only political party we have in Nigeria is the PDP.
” In Rivers PDP there is no new members or old members. We are all one. We are working together in unity.
“When your zone takes a decision, please work with it for the good of everyone. Unity is key.
In Rivers we’re all working together, as a governor I cannot do it alone”
The National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus, maintained that the PDP, with its reorganization and repositioning, will take over power come 2019 and urged party members to work for the victory of the party.
