Dele Momodu, a 2023 PDP presidential aspirant, has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, specifically urging him to enforce discipline and take action against Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for publicly disrespecting him.

In the letter, Momodu expresses his concern as a friend and brother, stating that he owes Tinubu the truth. He notes and specifically addresses the actions of the former governor of Rivers State and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Momodu points out that he is not expecting Tinubu to act on his suggestions but wants to put it on record that someone has given him the true picture of things. He hoped that some of the president’s associates would read and interpret the letter to him in a sober moment.

The Open letter specifically highlighted Wike’s public disrespect towards Tinubu in the Fubara matter, warning that if left unchecked, Wike’s actions could throw Nigeria into total chaos. Momodu urges Tinubu to sanction Wike and enforce discipline as a leader.

“You must enforce DISCIPLINE as a leader. Your new disciple, NYESOM WIKE, has publicly disrespected you in the FUBARA matter. You need to sanction him before he throws Nigeria into total chaos” said the 2023 PDP Presidential aspirant.

This development comes amidst growing concerns about Wike’s increasing boldness in challenging authority especially within Rivers state, TPCN had earlier reported the political battle of wills that has been going on in Rivers state for a while now between the current governor, Siminilayi Fubara, and former governor Nyesom Wike.

In his letter, Momodu, despite being a member of the opposition wrote, “Nigeria is in big trouble. Our economy has virtually collapsed. And what’s the way out? You’ve been wasting too much money at a time that requires absolute frugality. Please, stop this reckless propensity for wasting scarce resources.”

“Purchasing Presidential jets, building outlandish monuments, distributing cash as palliatives, etc, are signs of a failed and careless government. If you can curb the excessive spending of your government, you will free up a lot of resources for serious development.”

He identified what he sees as wasteful spending by the current government, beckoning for wise use of scarce resources.

He said “ I believe you’re frittering away our resources because you crave a second term. But the best assurance of a second term is PERFORMANCE. Nigerians are not expecting you to turn water into wine but they don’t want you to turn their wines into water.”

“Here are my tips” he added: “Invest in vocational skills for our highly talented youths who can demonstrate their capacity for hard work. Invest heavily in local agriculture. Upgrade our institutions of learning. Giving cash to politicians to distribute is unhealthy and unhelpful… It is the height of cluelessness.”

The letter however has sparked a heated debate among political commentators, with some praising Momodu for speaking truth to power and others criticizing him for meddling in internal cabinet affairs.
