Sea Pirates Abduct 10 Maritime Travellers along Bonny-Port Harcourt Waterway

At least 10 maritime travelers are feared to have been abducted by sea pirates along the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway in the early hours of Monday morning. The incident, which has been confirmed by the district Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State district, Israel Pepple, is believed to have involved 10 persons traveling between Bonny and Port Harcourt.

“It’s not a rumor, it is real. 10 persons have been kidnapped this morning coming from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We’ve reported to the security agencies,” Pepple said via telephone.

The police public relations officer also confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, had mandated the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olugbenga Adepoju, and the DPOs in the area to ensure the victims regain their freedom as soon as possible.
