In a bold move, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has cautioned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors against attempting to transfer control of the party’s structure in Rivers State to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking at the PDP state congress in Port Harcourt, Wike emphasized his unwavering commitment to maintaining control of the party’s structure in Rivers State. He declared, “We will not relinquish control of the PDP structure in Rivers State to anyone, no matter the circumstances.” Wike’s warning comes on the heels of the PDP Governors’ Forum’s recent endorsement of Fubara, who has been engaged in a public feud with the minister.

Undeterred, Wike vowed to resist any attempts to undermine his influence within the party, stating, “I will not hesitate to take drastic measures to protect our interests in Rivers State and beyond.” The minister, who previously served as governor of Rivers State, urged party members to remain united and focused on reclaiming control of the state government in 2027.

“We have overcome challenges before, and with divine support, we will triumph again,” he assured. Wike’s assertive stance has sent a clear message to PDP governors and stakeholders, signaling his determination to maintain control of the party’s structure in Rivers State and protect the interests of his loyal supporters.
