Helicopter Crash Near Mimbo and FPSO: 8 Feared Dead in Sea Disaster

The Rivers State Police Command regrets to announce a tragic helicopter crash that occurred today, claiming the lives of eight individuals.

At approximately 11 am, Ifeanyi Udogwu, a staff member of Antan Producing Limited, reported that a helicopter with call sign 5N-BQG (S76C+), owned by East Wing Aviation, departed from the Nigerian Air Force Base in Port Harcourt.

The helicopter was en route to the Nuim Antan OML123 fields, carrying two crew members and six passengers.

Sadly, the helicopter reportedly crashed into the ocean near Antan Producing Limited’s Mimbo platform and FPSO. All eight individuals on board are feared to have perished in the incident.

The Rivers State Police Command’s Marine Division is working closely with other agencies to recover the aircraft and retrieve the remains of the victims.

The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, confirmed the unfortunate event in a press release.

The Rivers State Police Command extends its deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic loss.
