Cattle colonies, a ploy to Islamize the country – Pastor Ilechukwu.

The General Overseer of the Charismatic Renewal Ministries, Reverend Cosmas Ilechukwu has said that the cattle colonies being proposed by the federal government is a ploy to islamize the country and extend the Fulani kingdom.

The clergyman who spoke during a church service in honour of the newly appointed permanent secretary, Rivers state Ministry of Information, Paulinus Isirim, said that Nigerians should rally round and reject such a ploy by the government as it is only but a prelude to anarchy.

In an interview with our reporter, he maintained that Nigeria presently lacks leadership at the national level, saying that what is currently obtainable is an aberration of leadership.

He said: “We don’t have leadership at the national level. What we have at the national level is a kangaroo kind of leadership.

” Leadership is an instrument for upliftment. It is an instrument for societal transformation. Any oppressive leadership is actually not leadership.

” What we have are power-drunk individuals who took over leadership just to impose harsh conditions on us.

“It is not only that it is being done in a very barbaric way. It is also being done in a very selective way that depicts prejudice against certain people, not because they are bad people but because of where they come from and the way they worship their God.

“So, as far as I am concerned, we don’t have any leadership at the national level”

Reverend Ilechukwu said that the cattle colonies are fulani colonies as they are the ones who will manage these colonies and expressed anger at the federal government’s use of wrong terminologies to confuse the masses.

“I am always angry when people use wrong terminologies to describe things. Cattle cannot have colonies. It is fulani colonies.

” Federal Government is deceptive. It is using the term cattle colonies so that people will think that they are giving a parcel of their land just for cattle.

“If you go to the colonies, will it be only the cattle their? Who will be managing the colonies? It is the Fulani.

” Colony is a ploy for the islamization and extension of the Fulani kingdom and Nigerians should stand up and say a big No to that.

“I don’t support it. I cannot support it. I don’t see any true Nigerian supporting that kind of thing”

Reacting to questions about the letter written by the former president Obasanjo to President Buhari, the Reverend said that he is not a fan of Obasanjo because he had the opportunity to lay a solid foundation for the country and missed it.
However, he said that the letter made him his friend .

“I am not a fan of Obasanjo because he had the opportunity to lay a solid foundation for this country but missed it.

” However, the letter made me his friend. I became a fan after reading that letter.

“I went through it and studied it thoroughly and it is in good direction and I hope that the person it is addressed to will carry his bags and leave Aso Rock so that we can get the right type of people inside the place.

He expressed optimism for 2019, saying that it is an opportunity for Nigerians to do the right thing and vote in the right people.

“2019, Nigerians are going to use our voting power to vote in the right people. We will not tolerate what APC and their gang up is doing in the country today.

” I said it in 2014 that people should not vote in this party because it won’t help Nigeria and he wants to come back for second tenure?.

“This is the beginning of suffering. If he comes back, Nigerians will suffer the more.

” There is no stewardship. Stewardship entails acknowledging that certain things do not belong to you.

“Our leaders must acknowledge that Nigeria does not belong to them, that the commonwealth does not belong to them. It belongs to all of us but now, it is cornered by a clan.

” This is the highest manifestation of nepotism and the most nepotistic government in my short years of existence and therefore, it cannot be stewardship.

” Stewardship abhors clannishness, it abhors nepotism. Stewardship is managing the resources of the people for the good of the people.

” What we want is a government of national integration, a government to be presided by a true Nigerian patriot, someone who is a Nigerian, who loves Nigeria and wants to see Nigeria grow.

” It is not what we have today. What we have is an aberration of governance”

Facebook to ban ads on its site.

Facebook book has said that it will ban ads from bitcoin traders.

The social network said Tuesday that it would ban all ads for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, in order to stop promotions that it sees as “frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.”

Under Facebook’s new policy, no ads from well-known digital currency exchanges or for initial coin offerings will be allowed.

Facebook’s move followed questions about whether it has done enough to protect its site from bad actors. The company has been trying to clamp down on misinformation and false news after admitting last year that Russian agents had used it to spread divisive and polarizing messages.

The world of cryptocurrencies, which people have flooded into as prices soared in recent months, has also increasingly raised fears that parts of the market are dogged by scams. The Securities and Exchange Commission said Tuesday that it had halted what may have been a fraudulent initial coin offering that asked people to fund what was supposed to be the world’s first “decentralized bank.”

Rob Leathern, a Facebook product management director, announced the ban on cryptocurrency ads in a blog post. He said the ban was intentionally broad, as Facebook seeks to “better detect deceptive and misleading advertisements

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s chief executive, has recently expressed an interest in digital currencies. In a Facebook post this month, he wrote that he was studying how to introduce cryptocurrency to his company, adding that he thought it would “take power from centralized systems and put it back into people’s hands.”

Rivers State House of Assembly passes 2018 Appropriation Bill into law.

Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the 2018 Appropriation Bill, termed ‘Budget of Consolidation’ into law.

The bill was passed, on Tuesday, after the lawmakers considered the report of the Appropriation Committee, which stood at the N510 billion as presented by Governor Nyesom Wike.

Presenting the report of the Appropriation Committee during plenary, on Tuesday, the member representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Constituency 1, Christian Ahiakwo, on behalf of the Chairman, Ikuinyi Owaji-Ibani, stated that the Committee recommended that the budget should be passed as presented by the governor.

Ahiakwo stated that the major source of funding for the budget is the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

According to him, the Ministry of Works got the highest allocation of N9.5 billion, which is in line with the state government’s policy thrust of providing massive infrastructure in the state.

He also said that a breakdown of the budget showed that capital expenditure is over N379 billion, while recurrent expenditure amounted to N132 billion.

He further told the Committee of the Whole that the Appropriation Committee corrected all typographical errors as observed by the Committees on Finance, Public Accounts, Environment and Power. “It is a balanced budget as it addresses all sectors of the economy,” he stated.

Addressing lawmakers after the House was converted into a Committee of the whole, the Chairman, Owaji-Ibani, who is also the Speaker of the House, stated that all standing committees agreed that the estimate for the 2018 budget should be approved as proposed.

Ibani said the recommendation of the committee showed that the budget was a balanced one, as it addressed all sectors of the economy.

He added that the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) being the major source of funding the 2018 budget meant that the era of going to look for money is over.

When the House was reverted to plenary, all lawmakers present at the sitting unanimously voted in favour of the passage of the Appropriation Bill.

Ekiti to establish Ekiti Economic Crimes Commission.

Ekiti State governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose has sent a bill to the Ekiti State House of Assembly for the establishment of Ekiti Economic Crimes Commission (EECC).

The bill which is being considered by the House Committee on Public Accounts & Anti Corruption, has passed 2nd reading.

This is in reaction to the court battle between the state and Economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC).

A Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti had ruled that EFCC lacked the power to investigate finances of a State and subsequently restrained the commission from interfering in the running of Ekiti State by either investigating or arresting any official of the State Government.

The court said during its ruling that in federalism, the FG is not an overseer or supervisor regarding finances of a State.
That only the State House of Assembly can investigate finances of a State.

Reacting to the the favourable judgment passed by the court, Governor Fayose said that Nigeria is a federation and must be run like one.

He maintained that Nigerians should continue to fight for the sustenance of her hard earned democracy, using legal means.

Manchester United sign teenage goalkeeper.

Manchester United completed the signing of teenage goalkeeper Matej Kovar as Matty Willock and Charlie Scott headed out on loan to Scotland on deadline day.

With Jose Mourinho’s men in action at Tottenham on Wednesday evening, the transfer activity was unsurprisingly focused away from the first team.

United completed the signing of 17-year-old Kovar from FC Slovacko, subject to the Czech Republic Under-18s goalkeeper receiving international clearance.

The teenager impressed on a one-week trial in November and has signed a professional deal at Old Trafford ahead of linking up with the under-18s.

IAUOE reopens portal.

Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumini, Port Harcourt, have reopened the registration portal which was previously shut by the school authorities to enable students pay their school fees.

It would be recalled that the deadline for the payment of school fees was given as 31st January, 2018 with consequences which meant that those who fail to comply will repeat one academic session.

There were barrages of criticism on the school management for the payment policy as the same policy was equally enacted by the management of the University of Portharcourt.

However, the school have rescinded its decision following pressure from parents and students alike and have extended the deadline to enable those who have not paid to comply.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor. Ozor-Mekuri Ndimele, who gave the directive for the reopening of the school portal, said that the deadline has been extended to February 28, 2018 and urged parents and students to comply within the new deadline.

How to differentiate between symptoms of flu and common cold.

During fierce and deadly flu season, it’s important to recognize the symptoms that will tell you whether you have the nasty infection — or just a common cold.

People with the flu often experience fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches and/or fatigue, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some — more commonly children — may also have vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Especially in the harmattan months , it’s easy to mix up cold and flu symptoms

.

Flu or cold?

According to Dr. Rachael Lee, assistant professor in the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s Division of Infectious Diseases, there are certain ways to tell the difference. “Colds are typically around your nose and face, and you have a sore throat,” she said.

“Your symptoms are more gradual in onset, and you may have a low-grade fever but not high fevers. It can also cause cough but does not have shortness of breath.”

As for the flu, “it is pretty much all of a sudden: You will have fevers, body aches, sore throat, coughs, and then you can have other symptoms as well, such as shortness of breath. You can feel dehydrated, meaning you may be dizzy, and you may be a little bit confused.”

Extra precautions

Those who are at higher risk for developing flu-related complications should take extra precautions when they feel symptoms coming on.

The CDC says these include children under 5 years old, particularly those under 2. Also at high risk are adults 65 and older, pregnant women, residents of long-term care facilities and people with medical conditions including weakened immune systems, asthma, heart disease and diabetes.

Individuals with minor flu or flu-like symptoms should refrain from going to the emergency room and instead call their primary health care providers, to avoid overstressing community resources.

Be prepared to wait

“For all patients, first and foremost, you should call your health care provider, because you may be able to get (the antiviral medication) Tamiflu, and the earlier you get Tamiflu, the more likely your symptoms will go away faster,” Lee said. “Do not wait with your symptoms. It is OK to bug us, as health care providers, because we are here to help.”

Those who do need to visit an emergency department, however, should be prepared for a long wait time.

“You should seek care in the emergency department when you are feeling dehydrated, you are not keeping any fluids down, as well as if you are feeling really short of breath and cannot catch your air,” Lee said.

Dr. Bernard Camins, also an associate professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, said flu prevention should be the focus for the public.

Prevention key to protection

The most important thing is prevention: avoiding anyone who is sick, if possible, Camins said.

“This includes avoiding public areas where they could get infected, staying away from family or friends who may be sick and not allowing sick individuals into their homes. They also need to practice proactive and frequent hand hygiene. Prevention is the key.”

To protect yourself and your loved ones from getting the flu in the first place, the University of Alabama-Birmingham suggests that you get the flu vaccine if you are 6 months or older, cover your coughs and sneezes, and wash your hands frequently.

You should also clean your living and work areas, avoid crowds where possible, stay home from work or school if you are sick and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

According to Lee, the vast majority of people who “get rest and drink fluids and take Tamiflu … will get over your symptoms pretty quickly.”

Rivers state house of assembly approve the sack of RSIEC members.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved the sack of six members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, according to Touchph.

This is in respect of the letter sent by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who sought approval for their sack and immediate replacement, following allegations of partisan politics after a security report indicted them.

Governor Wike stressed that the sack of officials is in the interest of the state.

“I hereby request the removal of the following members by the House, this move is in the public interest and in accordance to section 201,
subsection 1 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
“They are Dr. Chimaraoke Mgba, Engr. Kombo Johnson, Mr. Ugbana Martins, Dr. Robinson Olulu, Chief Kingsley Ogbudibo and Dr. Mrs. Juliet Berewari.’’ the letter read.

The All Progressive Congress, APC in Rivers State, has reacted to their removal, saying that the sack is an attempt to undermine the ongoing court case involving elected local government council chairmen.

The Spokesman for the opposition party, Chris Finebone criticized the removal of the RSIEC officials and the ongoing amendment of the RSIEC law by the state House of Assembly.

“We are watching and taking notes of how they will perform that abracadabra, we note that the RSIEC law is also being expeditiously reworked, barring anyone from going to court to stop RSIEC from conducting elections, it is even obvious to the blind, we are painstakingly taking notes.”

Aubameyang moves to Arsenal.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record fee, understood to be £60m.

The length of Aubameyang’s Arsenal deal has not been confirmed, with the club saying the Gabon international striker has signed “a long-term contract”.

Arsenal announced on their official website the transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes and the 28-year-old’s squad number will be confirmed soon.

Dortmund were only willing to sanction Aubameyang’s move if they could find a replacement and it is understood Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi will be joining the German club on loan.

The Belgian’s departure from Stamford Bridge could pave the way for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud to join Chelsea.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: “Apart from the unpleasant events of recent weeks, we like to remember that the story of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund for more than four years was a success story.

“He has done great things for Borussia Dortmund at this time, scored many important goals and is part of the team that brought the DFB Cup to Dortmund in 2017.

“We wish Pierre-Emerick all the best for his future at Arsenal.

Aubameyang becomes the Gunners’ third signing of the January transfer window, after Konstantinos Mavropanos and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who joined from Manchester United and will re-unite with former Dortmund team-mate Aubameyang.

Arsenal have paid £60m for Aubameyang, eclipsing the previous club record of £52.7m paid for Alexandre Lacazette in July 2017.

Aubameyang joined Dortmund from St Etienne in July 2013 for an undisclosed fee.

He scored 98 league goals in 144 appearances for die Schwarzgelben, winning last season’s Bundesliga top scorer award with 31 goals.
