‎NFF appoints Akeem Busari as new Flamingos coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced the appointment of Akeem Busari as the new head coach of the Flamingos, Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team.

‎The decision, confirmed in a statement released by the federation on Friday, marks a new chapter for the Flamingos as they prepare for upcoming continental and international competitions.

Busari replaces the outgoing coach following a technical review aimed at strengthening the team’s performance and long-term development.

‎According to the NFF, Busari’s appointment is based on his vast experience in youth football development and his proven ability to nurture young talents.

He is widely regarded as a disciplined tactician with a keen eye for identifying and grooming future stars.

‎In his first reaction to the appointment, Busari expressed gratitude to the federation for the opportunity, pledging to build a competitive and resilient squad.

“It is an honour to be entrusted with this responsibility.

The Flamingos are a pride of the nation, and I am committed to raising a team that Nigerians will be proud of,” he said.

‎The Flamingos have historically been one of Nigeria’s most successful youth teams, consistently making strong appearances at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Expectations are therefore high as Busari steps into the role, with fans and stakeholders eager to see the team maintain its competitive edge on the global stage.

‎Football analysts believe the appointment signals the NFF’s continued commitment to investing in grassroots and youth development, particularly in women’s football.

Busari is expected to begin immediate preparations, including scouting and training programs, ahead of key qualifiers later this year.

‎His tenure begins with optimism and renewed hope for sustained success.
