Bonny Council Disburses N100m Scholarship To 1,000 Students

The Bonny Local Government Council has officially published the list of beneficiaries of its N100 million Undergraduate Scholarship Empowerment Fund, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to educational development.

This development follows the commencement of payment earlier today, with each of the 1,000 successful beneficiaries receiving the sum of N100,000. The initiative is aimed at supporting Bonny indigenes pursuing tertiary education across Nigeria while easing the financial burden on their parents and guardians.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Engr. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, he reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to both quantitative and qualitative advancement in the education sector.

According to him, the disbursement fulfills a key promise made to the people, emphasizing his administration’s resolve to deliver on its commitments. “Promise made, promise kept,” the Chairman stated.

The Undergraduate Scholarship Empowerment Fund, described as the first of its kind in Bonny Local Government Area since 1999, was launched in November 2025. It is designed to provide financial assistance to students and promote access to higher education among Bonny youths.

Chairman Pepple also expressed appreciation to his political leader and mentor, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, for the opportunity to serve the people.
