Nigeria’s Super Eagles will step up their preparations for upcoming international assignments with two high-level friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June.
Head coach Éric Chelle is expected to lead his side into the first fixture against Poland on June 3, a matchup that rekindles memories of their last meeting in 2018.
On that occasion in Wrocław, Nigeria edged a 1-0 win thanks to a penalty from Victor Moses.
Seven days later, the Eagles will face Portugal in a game that presents a different kind of challenge.
Their most recent encounter ended in a heavy loss in 2022, where Portugal’s firepower proved decisive, with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice and Gonçalo Ramos and João Mário also finding the net.
Both fixtures form part of a packed schedule for the national team, which also includes participation in the Unity Cup in May.
The tournament will feature countries such as India and Jamaica, giving Chelle the chance to assess more players and experiment with his options.
With several matches lined up in a short period, the focus will be on sharpening team chemistry, addressing past weaknesses, and building a more reliable squad ahead of future competitions.
