Synergy Wellcare Medicaid Limited has partnered with the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas Bonny to train students on First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation while also promoting awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals.
The training, held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, forms part of efforts to enhance productivity through improved healthcare, well-being, and motivation among students. The initiative reflects a growing recognition of health as a critical factor in academic performance and overall development.
The Rector of the institution, Victor Okolobah, emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and wellness on campus, noting that the administration is committed to fostering a healthy lifestyle among students. He stated that the institution views healthcare not as a cost but as a strategic asset essential for productivity and growth.
The collaboration highlights the role of Health Maintenance Organizations in educational settings, focusing on improving access to healthcare services, increasing awareness of health insurance, and encouraging preventive care practices among students and staff.

During the session, participants received practical training on First Aid and CPR techniques, equipping them with lifesaving skills that can be applied in emergency situations. The programme also featured discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on creating eco-friendly environments, promoting a sustainable economy, building socially supportive communities, advancing health advocacy, and encouraging healthy lifestyles among students.
Organizers noted that the Sustainable Development Goals are designed to meet present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs, underscoring the importance of long-term planning and responsible practices.
Public Relations Officer Anthony Ogbe stated that the initiative represents a significant step towards integrating health education and sustainability into campus life, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to society while maintaining personal well-being.
