‎Evaluation Committee inspects Nigeria’s facilities for 2031 African Games

Nigeria’s efforts to host the 2031 African Games took a major step forward on Monday when the National Sports Commission (NSC) officially welcomed the African Games Bid Evaluation Committee in the capital city.

‎The committee, led by Dr. Decius Chipande, was greeted by a top team from the NSC.

This team gave a detailed presentation covering Nigeria’s facilities, financial plans, and long-term goals for the African Games.

‎Mallam Shehu Dikko, the chairman of the NSC, said the federal government is fully committed to hosting the event.

He added that this is a national priority, aiming to build top-quality facilities and leave a lasting impact on African sports.

‎Dikko said, “Nigeria has the political will and the ability to organize memorable Games that will be remembered across the continent.”

‎Hon. Bukola Olopade, the director general of the NSC, shared a strategy for marketing and getting sponsors.

‎She pointed out that Nigeria’s large market and growing private sector interest make the Games a good business opportunity.

‎Dr. Paul Onyedo talked about Nigeria’s readiness in sports medicine and meeting international standards against doping.

‎Dr. Emmanuel Igbinosa explained a plan focused on athlete safety and overall well-being.

‎The committee praised Nigeria’s thorough planning and the good teamwork between government and private groups.

After the meetings, the delegation started checking important sports facilities on Monday, with more inspections planned for Tuesday.

‎Nigeria feels confident that its experience, existing facilities, and strong national support make it the best choice to host the 2031 African Games.
