Rivers United Humiliated as Nasarawa United Run Riot in 4–1 Thriller

It was a night to forget for Rivers United as they were convincingly beaten 4–1 by Nasarawa United in a game that slipped away almost as soon as it began.

From the first whistle, Nasarawa United showed more hunger, intensity, and purpose.

Within just 15 minutes, Rivers United found themselves three goals down, completely overwhelmed by a fast and ruthless start from the hosts. Goals from Oluka-Efor N., Abdullahi A., and Chimezie I. left the visitors stunned and chasing shadows.

Rivers United tried to respond, and Abdulrafiu T. pulled one back in the 24th minute to give a brief sense of hope. But even then, there was little sign that they could truly turn things around.

In the second half, Nasarawa United remained composed and in control. Any thoughts of a comeback were put to rest when Istifanus J. added a fourth goal in the 58th minute, sealing an emphatic victory.

For Rivers United, the result highlights growing concerns. The slow start, defensive lapses, and lack of cutting edge in attack continue to cost them at a crucial stage of the season. What once looked like a confident title charge is now beginning to feel uncertain.

On the other hand, Nasarawa United delivered a performance full of energy and discipline, taking their chances and showing exactly what it takes to win at this stage of the campaign.

As the title race tightens, Rivers United will need to respond quickly because results like this don’t just hurt they change momentum.
