Abua/Odual Council Condemns Killings Along Ahoada-Abua Road

The Chairman of Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Owolobi Michael Ofori has condemned in strong terms the recent killings and acts of insecurity along the Ahoada axis of the Ahoada-Abua Road.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary on Mr. Eeguode Sampson Iyabi on Saturday 14 March 2026, Hon. Ofori described the attacks on the people as barbaric and unacceptable.

While noting that the acts of insecurity is a direct threat to peace, safety and economic activities in the communities, the Abua/Odual Council Chairman said his administration has prioritized security by establishing a proactive and community-driven security frameworks.

Hon. Ofori said with the aid of security operatives criminal hideouts have been dismantled and illegal scrap dump sites that served as centres for crime and drug abuse have been shut down.

According to the statement, the security actions implemented has helped maintain peace and development across Abua/Odual local government area.

The Chairman said his administration is intensifying engagements with security agencies and working closely with the Chairman of Ahoada East LGA to ensure lasting safety along that corridor.

While commending the ongoing joint security operations, Hon. Ofori called for sustained efforts, increased checkpoints, and stronger security presence.

According to him, security is a collective responsibility and appealed to the Rivers State Government to support present efforts to bring a permanent end to the security menace.

The statement added that, Hon. Ofori is committed to protecting lives and property as development can only thrive in a safe and secure environment.
