Rivers Lawmaker Boosts Education with ₦2m Donation At GSS Eneka Inter-House Sports

At the 35th/19th joint annual Inter-House Sports Competition of Government Secondary School Eneka, (UBE and Senior Secondary sections), member representing Obio/Akpor Constituency 11 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Emilia Lucky Amadi, donated the sum of two million naira to the school.

Amadi while addressing management and students at the inter-house sports held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, explained that the donation was part of her support to the advancement of education and development of learning institutions.

She also noted that it was in demonstration of her commitment to education and girl-child development, also to strengthen the school system.

Amadi who announced that one million was for the senior section while the other one million for the junior, encouraged the students to remain focused in their students even as she stressed the need for talents harnessing through extra curriculum activities.

Emphasizing her desire to empower the girl child, the lawmaker said, “I will continue to support the girl-child in this school. They are the future mothers of tomorrow. Many of you here will grow to become doctors, teachers, and professionals in higher institutions.

“Let me commend the management of this school for keeping up with the annual tradition of this institution. I was here from 2015 until late 2021 before I retired, and I am pleased to see that the school is developing rapidly.

Amadi acknowledged concerns raised by the school community regarding the persistent flooding experienced within the school environment during the rainy season and assured the management and students that the matter would receive prompt attention.

“I have heard of your complaints about the flood issue here. Be rest assured that I will notify the State Government on the flood situation, and necessary actions will be taken to address the continuous flooding during the rainy season.”

The colourful sporting event brought together students, teachers, parents, and members of the host community in celebration of talents, teamwork, and the enduring tradition of healthy competition within the school system.

Meanwhile, the Eneka CTC Chairman, Apostle Lawson Chuku, who was also in attendance commended the school management for holding the annual event.

His words, “I feel very much honored and delighted to be called upon to this historic occasion. I thank the school administration and organizers of this sports competition for considering me worthy to chairman this great occasion.

“May I also congratulate the school management committee and principal of both Junior and senior secondary school for their doggedness in ensuring that an occasion of this magnitude is organized annually, the present economic situation in the country notwithstanding. Your resilience in maintaining this annual ritual is an evidence that you understand the importance of sports in the development of our youths.

“I can proudly state that GSS Eneka is in the forefront as one of the schools assisting the government of Rivers State to realize the set objectives and goals in sports development.

“It is a joy to behold young ones displaying their strength, agility and perseverance on the pitch as they all strive to win.”
