The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Rivers State Council has called on the Federal Government to do its best to tackle the continuous rise of petroleum products in the nation.
In a statement signed by the secretary of the council Comrade Matthew Oladeji after its state executive council meeting stated that the increase in the pump price of petrol has worsened the economic situation in the country.
Comrade Oladeji while stressing that the hardships in the country is taking a huge toll on the citizens, urged the government to intensify measures to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
According to the statement, Rivers State Executive council passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Comrade Alex Agwanwo and commended efforts made so far to carry all members along.
The council urged all political factions in the state to maintain peace and embrace the renewed mutual understanding for the development of Rivers State, applauded the socio-economic developments since the return of democratic rule in the State.
The statement added that the Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress pledged to support Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration to achieve its goal.
