Disu Charges New DIGs to Drive Intelligence-Led Policing, Deepen Reforms

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu has charged the newly decorated eight senior officers elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) to provide strategic direction to the Force, strengthen internal discipline, drive ongoing reforms, and ensure that policing strategies remain agile and responsive to Nigeria’s evolving security threats.

IGP Disu who made these remarks at the Force Headquarters in Abuja said their promotion is not merely a ceremonial adornment but a well-deserved recognition of decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and proven leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.

The IGP tasked the new DIGs on harnessing their vast experience in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and accountability to inspire confidence among personnel and earn greater public trust.

While expressing appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering support to the Force to ensure it meets its mandate, IGP Disu also applauded the Police Service Commission (PSC) for upholding transparency and professionalism throughout the promotion exercise.

He acknowledged the families of the promoted officers, noting their immense sacrifices and unwavering encouragement as key pillars behind the officers’ distinguished careers.

The newly decorated DIGs includes
Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha and Umar Shehu Nadada.

The IGP Tunji Disu, the Force Secretary, AIG Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo, the eight new DIGs now form the reconstituted Force Management Team.

The ceremony attracted a distinguished array of dignitaries, including Rt. Hon. Kabir Alhassan Rurum, Chairman of the House Committee on Air Force; Dr. Temitope Ilori, Director-General of NACA; former Head of the Civil Service, Danladi Kefas, CFR, OON, mni; Engr. Jide Adeniji, former Chairman of FERMA; Hon. Commissioner Muhammed Abdulmutalik of Kogi State amongst other dignitaries.
