Former Minister of Transportation and presidential hopeful, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that nothing will stop the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from taking over the presidency in 2027.
Amaechi spoke to supporters after registering as a member of the party in Ubima, where he also flagged off the ADC membership registration in Rivers State. He described recent attacks linked to the registration exercise as attempts to distract the party but insisted that such actions would not stop its political ambition.“Our role is to be calm and peaceful.
We are marching to Aso Rock. What they are doing is a distraction and will not put food on the table of the people,” Amaechi said.“Many people are hungry and dying every day, yet a few individuals are stealing public funds and expect us to remain silent,” he added.
Amaechi urged residents of Rivers State to register en masse with the ADC ahead of future elections, expressing confidence that the party would achieve victory. The former Rivers State governor also warned that failure by authorities to protect citizens could push people to resort to self-help, but advised his supporters to remain peaceful.

Earlier, he commended security agencies for their swift response to security threats in the area and urged residents not to retaliate.“I want to sympathise with our landlord at the ADC secretariat in Ubima and members of the Ubima Ward, which is Ward 8 in Ikwerre Local Government Area. Don’t be violent, as violence may lead to death.
At the same time, they cannot stop us from meeting in our communities,” he said. Amaechi also expressed appreciation to the police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their prompt intervention. “I thank the Commissioner of Police and the Director of SSS. They showed a lot of professionalism immediately I made contact with them.
The Police came out, the DSS came out, and the NSCDC. We are grateful to them, but they must ensure that such criminal acts do not continue and that those responsible are prosecuted,” he stated. Gunmen were earlier reported to have attacked the ADC secretariat in Ubima before attempting to intercept Amaechi’s convoy while he was heading to the town for the registration exercise.
Security operatives accompanying the former minister reportedly engaged the attackers in a gun battle and repelled them.Sources said the assailants fled after being overpowered by the security operatives. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
