Nigerian Army Urges Senior NCOs to Utilize Knowledge Acquired in Training

The Nigerian Army has tasked senior non-commissioned officers (NCOs) to make use of the knowledge acquired from a leadership, awareness and development course to enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army Major General Emmanuel Eric -Emekeh, gave the charge during the closing ceremony of the course held at the Division’s headquarters in Port Harcourt between March 2 to 6, 2026.

Major General Eric- Emekah, who was represented by his Chief of Staff Brigadier General, Emmanuel Adamu, commended the Nigerian Army Resource Centre for organising the leadership programme for personnel within the Division.

He emphasised that the initiative had significantly broadened the participants’ understanding of leadership principles, interagency cooperation and the responsible use of social media.

“As we conclude this leadership awareness and development course for senior non-commissioned officers, I want on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, express gratitude to the center for finding time to come and conduct the course in 6 Division.

“The course has broadened the knowledge of participants on leadership and interagency collaboration as well as the responsible use of social media.”

Major General Eric- Emekeh said the training was designed to strengthen the leadership capacity of senior Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), who occupy critical positions within operational command structures and play key roles in mission execution.

He congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the course and urged them to translate the knowledge acquired into practical actions in their respective units and formations.

The GOC emphasised that applying the skills gained during the training would help close operational gaps, particularly in joint operations and inter-agency environments where effective coordination remains vital to addressing evolving security threats.

“Accordingly, I want to congratulate the participants for successfully completing the course and I urge them to deploy the knowledge gained in their units and formation to bridge the obvious gaps, especially while operating in a joint and interagency environment.

“Once more, I sincerely thank the organizers for their diligence in conducting the course. In conclusion, I wish the representative of the Director General and his team as well as participants safety back to their various destinations.”

HE also praised the organisers for their dedication and professionalism in delivering the course, describing the programme as a valuable investment in strengthening the leadership backbone of the Nigerian Army.

Major General Eric- Emekah further expressed appreciation to the representative of the Director-General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre and his team for facilitating the training.

He also wished the facilitators and participants safe journeys back to their various destinations before formally declaring the course for the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers closed.
