Abua/Odual Chairman Orders Immediate Work on Ayama-Okana Road

In a bid to provide infrastructure and boost economic development in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of the council Engr. Owolobi Michael Ofori has directed the immediate resumption of work on the long-awaited Ayama-Okana Road to deliver a lasting solution to residents’ mobility challenges.

The chairman made the announcement during a courtesy visit by members of the Abua/Odual Legislative Council to the Council Secretariat in Ayama, according to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on New Media, Mr. Enoch Markson.

Engr. Ofori stressed the road’s critical role as an economic lifeline for the local government area, connecting communities, linking them to markets, and providing seamless access across the central clan.

He emphasized the urgency of resuming construction to ease hardships faced by residents, particularly during the rainy season.

The chairman said that surveyors and workers were already on site taking measurements, with work set to progress swiftly to beat the onset of heavy rains.

“I met them there on my way to the office; they are doing their measurements so that we can get past the market before the rain starts,” he said.

In a triple infrastructure push under his Uru-Odighi administration, Engr. Ofori also announced the simultaneous commencement of construction on the New Abolga Ultra-Modern Park and the Abolga Shopping Mall.

These flagship projects aim to transform the LGA headquarters, generate direct and indirect jobs, and create thriving opportunities for small and medium-scale enterprises.

The chairman disclosed that internally generated revenue from the council would fund these initiatives, signaling a self-reliant approach to development.

“It is the money the Council is generating that we want to use so that we can do the park, the market road, and the shopping mall. By next week, you will see these three projects running simultaneously,” he declared.

Once these priority projects are underway, the administration plans to turn attention to environmental cleanup efforts across the area.
